An ApplicationNext time God tells you to do something, and someone else tells you God told them to tell you to do the opposite, don't believe them, just remember what God told you. Presumably the "prophet from Judah" was hungry and the "old prophet" was just a twerp (remember 2CH 11:13-16). If the one from Judah was Shemaiah (2CH 12:5) then he wasn't named here to avoid embarrassing his memory.

Connect the DotsIf God were to change His mind (1SA 15:29) then He's fully capable of telling us Himself, but such change is always predicated on us impressing God with our faith, like in 2CH 12:7 and 2KI 20:4-5.
