An ApplicationA fascinating encounter with God. The humility that Solomon demonstrated before God was exceptionally impressive. Kind of reminds us of MT 25:21. If only he can resist temptation and not mess it up.

Connect the DotsSolomon's request for wisdom was certainly impressive, but shouldn't be mistaken as random, lucky, nor accidental. He later wrote what were compiled into the book of proverbs, and in one of them he recounted how his dad, David, had instructed him: PR 4:3-9. That's not completely unique, but what is special is that Solomon actually listened and obeyed (hence 2SA 12:24-25). Later we'll read the truism that we reap what we sow: 2CO 9:6, GAL 6:7.
