An Application1SA 14:6 is an amazing declaration of faith we can all hope to emulate. Then he makes a seemingly crazy comment in 1SA 14:10, but to those who walk by faith, it's different. Not saying we should go around saying crazy things, Jon specifically had faith and discernment to realize both God's chosen people and God Himself were being insulted. So God was going to do His part to defend His reputation if Jon would just do his. Surely that applies to us too, in our own ways.

Connect the DotsIn 1SA 14:19 Saul intervenes with the priest. He had disregarded the distinction between priest and king (think "church and state") in the last story (1SA 13:11-12) and he will again in the next. And that's just when he cared enough about God to recognize the value of His opinion. When there's no time to read our Bible in search of God's stated opinion on a specific topic, it's important we've already made a habbit of studying God's opinion on all topics.
