An ApplicationDavid was brave & courageous to explicitly defy Goliath to his face. He wasn't messing around, he promised death to both Goliath and the entire Philistine army. No negotiation attempts first. His confidence in God alone as savior was crystal clear, and concern for God's reputation was his primary motivation. He didn't waste time talking bad about nor to Goliath, and he didn't use bad language. Respectful would be too strong a word, but he wasn't cocky in speech.
