An ApplicationThey say power corrupts, maybe that's what happened to Asa. Satan isn't named in this story, but as our primary enemy (1PE 5:8 ) his favorite hangout seems to be government, for that is where most of the power is. Certainly Satan corrupts (GE 3:1, MT 13:38-39) and is a tricky one (2CO 11:14-15). We have the power to resist him, if we choose (JAM 4:7, 1JN 4:4). Our challenge is to make the choice (GE 4:7).
