An ApplicationJosiah had Jeremiah, a major prophet, at his side (JER 1:1-2). I guess it didn't occur to Josiah to ask anyone (Jeremiah or otherwise) if this Neco guy was legit. In 2CH 35:22, surely God was like "What?? You're gonna regret that." How often are we just as foolish, and can we choose to do better from now on?

Connect the DotsThe lamentation mentioned in 2CH 35:25 is different than LAM 1-5, which was attributed to Jeremiah but was focused on the ruin of Judah and Jerusalem by the Chaldeans (Babylonians). Closest thing left to those "laments" is a super brief reference in JER 22:10. / As contrast to king Josiah, king David had the sense to consult God nine recorded times: 1SA 23:1-2, 23:4, 23:10-11, 23:12, 30:8, 2SA 2:1, 5:19, 5:23, 21:1.
