Connect the DotsIn 2KI 3:8-9 Edom was allied with Judah, probably as a result of the devastation of 1KI 11:14-17 and emphasized in 22:47-48. In 2KI 3:27, child sacrifice was outlawed by God in LEV 18:21, the Israelites were probably weirded out and may not have wanted to be around a guy that was so sinful. They hadn't specifically come to destroy Moab, they weren't bitter enemies here, they were just there to punish for rebelling: 2KI 3:7. Origin of Edom was in GE 36:8-9, followed up by DT 23:7.
