An ApplicationGreat story reminding us that God loves everyone, and of His providence. That little girl could have been bitter (2KI 5:2) but she offered words of life. Naaman was taught a lesson that God operates differently than we often assume He should (2KI 5:11) but none-the-less He is God and operates just fine without our approval (1SA 16:7, PS 50:9-12, ISA 55:8-9, MT 18:3, JN 5:41, ACT 8:20). Gehazi, too, leaned a similar lesson, but in a different way (2KI 5:20).

Connect the DotsJoram, son of Ahab, was king of Israel from 2KI 3:1-9:24, so was the unnamed king mentioned in 2KI 5:5, 7, 6:9-10, 6:26, 8:3-6. / First mentioned in just the previous story, after 2KI 5:27, Gehazi's short apprenticeship with Elisha was surely over, but we'll read about him one more time in 2KI 8. / Compare 2KI 5:16 with GE 14:22-23. / In 2KI 5:17 Naaman could probably relate to the tax collector in LK 18:13 (as should we all).
