An Application
2KI 8:6, maybe the woman was treated special because of her relationship to Elisha, maybe it was standard practice, or somewhere in between. / 2KI 8:15 was neither the first nor last story of betrayal in the Bible. It's a dangerous thing to be king. Certainly Jesus can relate.
Connect the Dots
Maybe 2KI 8:3 was reference to LEV 25:13. / In 2KI 8:7, the name Benhadad is probably more a title. Compare 1KI 15:20, 1KI 20:1, 20:34, 2KI 6:8-11, 6:24-27. / For 2KI 8:11-12, remember 1KI 19:15-18. And notice in 2KI 8:13, Hazael didn't reject the idea, he just didn't think he was strong enough to pull it off. / Joram, son of Ahab, was king of Israel from 2KI 3:1-9:24, so was the unnamed king mentioned in 2KI 8:3-6.
