An Application
Nathan was brave to confront the king like that in 2SA 12:7. Later we'll read a comment from God to another prophet in JER 1:17 which may help explain the bravery. Being God's prophet, you get (have) to do things like that. This chapter is a reminder that while David was just a guy and had his share of sin, it was his repentance, and more broadly his attitude when confronted with the truth, that made him be called "a man after God's own heart" in 1SA 13:14 and ACTS 13:22.
Connect the Dots
The prophecy of 2SA 12:11-12 will be fulfilled in 2SA 16:21-22. / David will write PS 51 shortly after this.
