An ApplicationIn ACT 12:15-16, they'd just prayed for Peter a few verses ago (ACT 12:5). Perhaps their prayer was simply for Peter to survive the trial/sentencing and their prayers weren't big enough, but God came through far beyond their wildest expectations. How often does He do that for us? How often do we notice, and how often do we act like these people? Whether it was Peter or an angel, shouldn't we jump to open the door and see, not argue about how practical God is being? Finally they did, do we?

Connect the DotsJames (ACT 12:2) had a long and colorful history as an Apostle: LK 5:6-11, 8:49-51, 9:28-29, MK 14:32-33. / This was Peter's third time in jail (ACT 4:3, 5:18, 12:4) and second time being freed by an angel (ACT 5:19, 12:7). / ACT 12:19 is what happened when you didn't have community leaders using you for their lies (contrast MT 28:12-15). / "Returned" in ACT 12:25 meant to Antioch. / Peter will later write the letters (books) 1PE 1 & 2PE 1.
