An ApplicationAs long as Christians leave their religion in the church then whatever, few people care. But when it spills over into real life, certainly if it causes people to change their spending habits, then people who profit from sin always get mad. Literal idol makers are rare today, but what other sin industries still exist today? (Hint, there are numerous: porn, prostitution, abortion, addictive substances, trafficking, gambling, money laundering, others.)

Connect the DotsThe conflict described in this story was an example of spiritual warfare. God made His opinion clear on idols and people who worship them in ISA 44:9 (really ISA 44:9-20) and Paul knew the 10 Commandments well (EX 20:4-6). Paul was living out MT 11:12. Later, he'll write the most famous passage in scripture on spiritual warfare to the believers in this very town: EPH 6:11-13. No coincidence after ACT 19:27-28. / Erastus in ACT 19:22 may be the same as named in RO 16:23.
