An Application
The citizens of Jerusalem in ACT 22:22 probably knew PS 110:1-2 but had forgotten (or ignored) ISA 42:6 & 49:6. Their religion had become a source of pride in
themselves
, rather than their relationship with God being a source of pride in God. God lamented to Isaiah on that explicitly in ISA 29:13 and MT 15:9. He also lamented to Jeremiah in JER 5:30-31. This misguided pride is still rampant today, but may we do better, specifically as described in JER 9:23-24.
Connect the Dots
Paul's teacher in ACT 22:3 had been named in ACT 5:34. ACT 22:6-10 was ACT 9:3-6, ACT 22:20 was ACT 7:59-8:1. / Paul was practicing what he preached all along in ACT 14:22.
