An ApplicationChristians are in a perpetual cold war with evil and sin. Both our own (GE 4:7) and that of others. Notice in EPH 6:14-17, 5/6 of the items are defensive, and the only offensive weapon is the Word of God. When we don't know the Bible forwards and backwards, we are seriously disadvantaged in our spitual warfare. Yes, there's LK 12:11-12, 21:15, but that's reassurance when our best efforts won't be good enough, not an excuse to not prepare (DT 6:6-9).
