An ApplicationWe can imagine when the temple was ransacked back in 2KI 24:12-13, the Jews were crying out that the things dedicated to God were being stolen. But like when the Ark of the Covenant was taken by the Philistines (and later returned) God knew what He was doing and had a plan to bring those items back in EZR 1:7. We don't pick and choose what God breaks and what He saves, but the point here is He can save against all odds if He chooses.

Connect the DotsCompare EZR 1:1 to 2CH 36:21-22. God had revealed His plans to Isaiah about two centuries before: that He would use a pagan ruler named Cyrus to accomplish His will. Then when the time He'd revealed to Jeremiah came up, He executed that plan.
