An ApplicationGE 17:19 was God implying "that would be too easy, I specialize in doing the impossible." Jesus reiterates this in MT 19:26. God also has a reputation of foretelling the future, not just revealing advanced perspective on the present: ISA 48:5. / The faith Abraham demonstrated in GE 17:23 was extraordinary. 24 years after he believed God and left the safety of his father's home to go to a strange land, yet still not receiving what had been promised, but believing he would.

Connect the DotsJesus's earthly parents obeyed the expectation of GE 17:10 in LK 2:21, but it would become officially obsolete with Jesus's sacrifice, as described in ROM 2:27 & GAL 5:6. / As followup to GE 17:20, the descendants of Ishmael are not the emphasis of the Bible, but they will come up again in GE 37:25, JDG 8:24, 2SA 17:25, and 1CH 27:30. / GE 17:23 took GE 15:6 to a whole new level.
