An ApplicationGE 29:26 was a lie, otherwise in the 7 years he worked there it would have come up. Jacob was likely just being gracious to his father in law, wanting to stay on his good side to get Rachel. Surely he knew he had gotten a taste of his own medicine, too. Maybe he intuited Jesus's later command in MT 5:38-42. This is a hard attitude for the proud or rich, may we all demonstrate it anyway.

Connect the DotsGE 29:18 and Jacob's offer to work 7 years would make more sense to us now if Rachel was only 8-10 years old at the time. But no indication was given. Amazing what love does to our sensibilities (then & now.) Not like he was in a hurry to get home (GE 27:41). / Jacob (who's name means supplanted, or deceiver) was deceived in GE 29:25. His brother would not be sympathetic after GE 25:31-32 and 27:36, nor his father: GE 27:33. / Jacob was in the lineage of Jesus, as noted in MT 1:2 and LK 3:33-34.
