An ApplicationRaising someone who's both dead & buried using just 3 words was an awesome demonstration of power, or more specifically, divinity. (Important, from a human point of view, after JN 10:31-33.) While Jesus did/does love, JN 11:36 does not actually explain JN 11:35. I blogged on a more likely reason why Jesus wept, here.

Connect the DotsJN 11:2 may be referring to JN 12:1-3, LK 7:36-38, or maybe MT 26:6-13. / JN 11:21 seems to have forgotten Jesus's long distance healings in MT 8:13 & 15:28 (Jesus didn't need to be there). / JN 11:43 is not the first time Jesus gave a command and the universe obeyed (GE 1:3). / In JN 11:47 it didn't occur to them to ask God, like their ancestors often did, if this Jesus guy was legit (for ex: JDG 20:18, 1SA 10:22, 30:8). They were behaving like Ahab & Jezebel in 1KI 19:1-2.
