An Application
In JN 13:9 Peter is absolutely revolted by the idea of Jesus washing his feet. Peter, like every other average person in his day, wore sandals, and it was normal to have filthy feet (LK 7:44). God stooped down and voluntarily performed the role of one of the lowest servants imaginable. He did that for the disciples, but it was neither the first nor last time He served men like this, and He is surely serving you (and me) like this today, more often than we know.
