An ApplicationSince the last story took place in Jerusalem, and the next one does too, there's got to be a reason this one is in Galilee (about a day and a half walk each way.) One explanation would be to perform the miracle with the fish again just for Peter. Peter wasn't just another disciple, or just another apostle. Peter was the first head of the church (which was different than being the first Pope: MT 16:18-19). John gave us a wonderful story of God forgiving and emboldening Peter.

Connect the DotsJN 21:2 gives us a little perspective. There were seven men in one boat (JN 21:8). JN 21:11 says there were 153 big fish. At 5 lb ea, that'd be 765 lb. / Compare JN 21:11 to LK 5:6. / JN 21:14 was the third time, JN 20:19 & 26 were the first two. / Probably not coincidence that Peter denied Jesus 3 times (MT 26:75) and Jesus asked the same question 3 times (JN 21:17). / Remember JN 21:25 was written over a millenia before the printing press was invented, books were much more rare then.
