Some ThoughtsWe're told in JOS 13:1 that the conquest, although ceased, wasn't complete. We'll read why in a few stories, and it'll take until King Solomon to complete (1KI 5:3-4) but the basic concept is God cares a great deal about our choices, and humanity has a bad habit of getting lazy when times are good. God forwarned us of this in DT 6:10-12 and later lamented of in HOS 13:6, so praise God for ROM 5:8. / In that side comment in JOS 11:22, Gath will come up again in 1SA 17:4.
