An Application
Elizabeth's baby knew Mary's baby was the Messiah even from the womb. Whoa. Not surprising, given his role, but none the less impressive.
Connect the Dots
Back in LK 1:24, Elizabeth stayed home five months, letting God have the next move. At the time of LK 1:42, Mary wasn't even showing yet, she was probably only a few weeks into her pregnancy, but Elizabeth knew from the Holy Spirit. LK 1:26 said Mary was visited by Gabriel in the 6th month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, and LK 1:56 said she stayed 3 months, so when Mary arrived, Elizabeth probably announced to her friends, and Mary seems to have stayed until just after John's birth.
