An ApplicationWe can all relate to Zechariah. He spent his whole life resigned to God's will that he wouldn't get what everyone else had. Then a miracle happens. Good reminder for us all that God is sovereign and has liberty to do wild and crazy things whenever He wants, including making a couple of senior citizens who've been married possibly over 50 years first time parents. Makes us wonder what crazy thing He'll do next in our life. May God help us to react favorably when we get the news.

Connect the DotsThe MAL 4:5-6 pretext is listed for two reasons. One, it prophesied JTB, Gabriel quoted it in LK 1:17, and Jesus explicitly confirmed in MT 11:13-14. Two, it was the last word from God for 400 years until JTB's time. (Remember the USA is only about 250 years old.) / The angel Gabriel was also in DAN 8:16 and 9:21. / Compare LK 1:7 to GE 18:11, LK 1:15 to NUM 6:1-3. / Elizabeth's 5 months in LK 1:24 was probably her waiting patiently at home to allow God to announce her pregnancy how He saw fit.
