An ApplicationLK 20:16a Jesus was condemning both the religion and nation of the Jews. The Jewish leaders knew it, that's why LK 20:16b, 19. Not that God is antisemitic now, He was just fed up with their disobedience, disbanded their human organization, and foreshadowed His shift in focus to the gentiles (Acts 11:18). God still loves all people, certainly including the descendents of Abraham (GE 12:3) but He doesn't have to like our institutions.

Connect the DotsLK 20:16b is a fascinating response to this parable. Any thinking person would say "well duh" to Jesus's conclusion in LK 20:16a. But these were the Jewish version of beaurocrats, the establishment. And to the establishment there is no such thing as reason for them to be de-established. There is no such thing as their removal, punishment, or humiliation. And Jesus promised all three. Sound familiar? They're not still alive today, their father is (JN 8:38-44) and he's still pushing the same lies.
