An ApplicationWe see God's character again. He could have easily chosen to have announced His birth to royalty, or to the high priest, or the elders, or the rich, or with His name written across the sky in big glowing letters for the whole nation to see. But He chose to tell the lowly shepards. (Compare His appearance to Elijah at Mt. Sanai in 1KI 19:11-13. And when He comes again, it will be with more show: LK 17:24, REV 6:14.)

Connect the DotsIn LK 2:9, being in the presence of God can make you radiant (EX 34:29-30, MT 17:1-2, AC 12:7, REV 21:11), and it's fun to imagine the glorious potential sight of an entire army of angels. / The "wise men" won't come for some time. / Compare LK 2:14 and MT 1:21, while Jesus came for everyone (LK 2:10) only those who accept and obey Him will receive His what He came to give (JN 3:18, MT 7:21, ACT 13:38-41). Those who don't still receive indirect benefits of living with those who do.
