An ApplicationAdam and Eve were created sinless, and didn't need saved. But they were given a very explicit choice (GE 2:17). It was a never ending test because it was side by side with the Tree of Life (GE 2:9). They were expected to reject temptation forever, but when they chose to indulge, they were separated from God (GE 3:23-24) and needed a savior. Our savior has come, but He warns we must be vigilant for life, not only for ourselves (GE 4:7), but for all children (MT 18:7).

Connect the DotsThere was a test of a thousand 5-year olds and they scored 98% divergent thinkers (ability to think outside the box). Same test given 5 years later to same kids, scores dropped to 32%. Again 5 years later and scores were 10%. The average adult is 2%. Maturing is good, but there are many ways we educate our kids that are counterproductive. When Jesus presents other ways, we should welcome Him, not turn on Him. Easier said than done, yet important. / Compare MT 18:4 to MT 23:11-12 & LK 22:24-26.
