An ApplicationMT 21:2, human kings don't ride donkeys, they ride horses or chariots. Donkeys are low, slow, & sometimes stubborn, horses are tall & fast. But God was no human king. / MT 21:12,15 clearly Jesus was challenging what had become the status quo there, and that inevitably makes enemies. The religious leaders were selling access to God, and that inspired the only recorded time Jesus got violent. Selling access to God's favor is strictly a human invention with alterior motives.

Connect the DotsIn MT 21:9 the people participating in this event were probably thinking about ZEC 9:9 & more importantly PS 110:1. After 5 centuries of not being a soverign nation they were ready for the Messiah to take the gloves off & kick some butt. They're going to get pretty mad when they realize that's not yet why He came. Someday He'll return, then He will: REV 19:11-16. / Compare MT 21:15 to JN 12:11, Jesus effortlessly made the establishment look incompetent. Also MT 21:16 to PS 8:2, 29:1, & ISA 13:3.
