An ApplicationWhile Korah initiates this rebellion (NU 16:1) he's not credited with it (DT 11:5-6). Korah was a Kohathite, and they were in charge of the most holy artifacts of God (NU 4:4). The other men (NU 16:25, DT 11:6) seem to have put Korah up to this. Like Adam, Korah (and you and me) was supposed to know God and not only resist evil but stand for righteousness. They failed, may we be vigilant to do better.

Connect the DotsNUM 16:3 and 13-14 have to be near the top of the list of dumbest statements recorded in the Bible. God responded to their amazing arrogance with an equally amazing miracle. / Korah learned the hard way what Solomon wrote about in PR 16:2, 26:12, and 30:12. / Compare Korah's complaint in NUM 16:11 to God's observation in 1SA 8:7. / God warns us to avoid repeating Korah's fate in RO 16:17-18, GAL 6:3, EPH 5:5-7, COL 2:4, 1TI 4:1, 2TI 3:12-13, TIT 3:3, JAM 1:22, 26, & 1JN 1:8.
