An ApplicationThis account is pretty deep, but I included it in the main arc because the description of the dragon here is important context for our next story. Clearly the dragon is an allusion to Satan, the father of lies (JN 8:44, 2CO 11:14-15), the great accuser (ZEC 3:1, JOB 1:9), despot of the world (JN 14:30, 2CO 4:4, 1PE 5:8), God wannabe (ISA 14:13), and not to be messed with on our own (JUD 1:9). REV 12:3 is a warning that Satan is a consolidator of power.

Connect the DotsREV 12:4 is thought by many to have happened between GE 2 & 3. (Timing is tricky with prophecy, remember LK 10:18.) It could also be referring to a future event and the "third" are the number of angels who followed Satan since the beginning, which would then be just an allusion to events in Genesis. There's also REV 8:7-12, 9:15, 18, unclear if connection of these thirds. / The 1,260 days (42 months, 3.5 years) are mentioned 4 times in this book: REV 11:3, 12:6, 12:14, & 13:5, and DAN 7:23-27.
