An ApplicationIn modern terms this is the "teaser trailer" for the future. It's not trying to explain anything substantial to us so that we have actionable knowledge today, it's just saying holy wow, God has some awesome things in store for you (believers) and when I say awesome, that's an understatement not an exaggeration. So when persecution or hardship comes in life (MT 5:10-12) brush it off and keep the faith (LK 7:23) stand firm (2TH 2:15) until the end, and beyond.

Connect the DotsREV 21:4 begs the question of why there won't be pain? It must be related to but opposite of REV 20:10,15 & ISA 66:22-24. If people in hell can be subjected to fatal punishment constantly and forever without the hope of death, then those in heaven can be impervious to pain with no risk of damage or death. / REV 21:18 & 21 refer to flawless, not see-through gold. / Compare the places in this story to PS 27:4, JN 1:9, 14:2-6, RO 8:18, and REV 3:12.
